This year is the time of observing of the 100th anniversary of Poland’s and other European states’ re-gaining their independence. On that occasion The National Museum of the Przemyśl Land is about to prepare various events like exhibitions and encounters.
As the 1918 events relate not only to Poland we, with the intention to awake young people to consciousness of the problems that had appeared ahead of the states of the Central and East Europe, and dilemmas the nations faced with then. The National Museum of the Przemyśl Land herewith announces an international contest named 1918 – the new order in the Central and Eastern Europe. Co-organizers of the Competition are: IPN Rzeszów Branch and the State Higher East-European School in Przemyśl.
Honorary patronage was taken by: Marshal of the Polish Sejm Marek Kuchciński, Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship Władysław Ortyl and President of the City of Przemyśl Robert Choma.
The aim of the analysis of the proposed subject is to make young generation study values and motivations that lied at the background of the decisions of the pre-war elites. Knowing the political climate of those times will allow us to understand opinions, level of the then knowledge and views.
The contest has been organized within the framework of two categories, and namely plastic arts category and historico-literary category. Due to the contest rules the submitted works shall be evaluated in two age category: children at the age 7-15, and high school youth and academic students. Awards are to be given out in both two age categories. The awarded works will be published in our special contest book. So we encourage to propagate the contest and to participate in it; this way, we think, the participants will be able to share with everybody their knowledge and reflections on the 1918 events.
